The Korean gaming industry is a promising area for entrepreneurs and game developers.Two friends, Suyong Ha and Hyunsoon Choi, decided to utilize their business and technological expertise to start a game-developing company Pepperstones.
Pepperstones, founded in 2021, will launch a unique rogue-like action game, ‘Wetory,’ by year-end. The 3D Rogue-like game is a story about an abandoned child due to a congenital disease. In the PC or Console platform game, the child with red feet tries to regain all colors in the world made to disappear by the game’s villain. ‘Wetory’ is a colourful world of adventure where players attack and evade obstacles through interaction with a tile map.
Pepperstones co-founder Suyoung Ha is a business administration graduate from Hongik University, and co-founder Hyunsoon Choi is a graduate of the Catholic University of Korea in computer science.
The game ‘Wetory’, which means ‘Alone’, got $100,000 production support from Gwangju Global Game Center. Pepperstones target is to sell over 200,000 units in three years and gain more than $4 million in sales. The company plans a ‘Steam Early Access Launch in September and an official release in February 2023.
Meanwhile, the Korean startup is set to showcase ‘Wetory’ at the Gamescom 2022 in Germany in August 2022 and the Tokyo Games Show 2022 in September
