Sega Forms an Electrifying Collab with Kpop Girl Group, Kep1er
The rising anticipation of the Gaming x Kpop crossover has brought an enormous wave of collaborations between the two industries. Previously, PUBG has been known to invite BLACKPINK in numerous collaborations. And global star BTS has recently joined Garena Free Fire and Cookie Run: Kingdom for projects that are beyond imagination.
Today, Sega jumps with yet another electrifying collab between their recently released Sonic Frontiers and rising Kpop girl group, Kep1er (read: Kepler).
Sonic Frontiers Commercial & Behind the Scene Collab Videos Using Hit Song, “WA DA DA”
In this collaboration, Sega invites Kep1er to join Sonic Frontiers in a 2-version of commercial videos. In the videos, the nine-member ensemble absorbed Sonic’s electric speed and through giant rings. This scene symbolizes how the Kpop group had brought themselves into a different world with their collab with Sonic Frontiers.
At the same time, Kep1er demonstrates the excitement of Sonic’s adventure in the new game by jumping from portal to portal. It represents the liberating adventure you will encounter in-game once you play Sonic Frontiers.
Sega created these commercial videos in two versions: 15 and 30-second versions.
“WA DA DA”: A Perfect Blend of Kep1er & Sonic Frontiers
As one of the rising 4th generation of Kpop girl groups, Kep1er instantly gained attention after their debut from a survival audition program, “Girls Planet 999”. With their powerful youth concept, Kep1er seems to represent Sonic’s strength and speed.
Not only that, Kep1er hit song “WA DA DA” is the perfect theme to ignite your spirit in joining the new adventure with Sonic Frontiers.
Sega further added that Kep1er’s “WA DA DA” contains lyrics that are closely reminiscent and embodies Sonic himself:
“Running vroom vroom vroom
Like a supersonic!”
– Kep1er “WA DA DA” Lyric.
In addition, words like “adventure of my dreams”, “take off”, and “run” highly represents the adventure aspects of the game. Therefore, inviting Kpop group Kep1er into a collab with Sonic Frontiers with “WA DA DA” is a step that not only expands their market but also covers the fundamental characteristic at the same time.
“Please enjoy the feeling of running along with Kep1er and their bouncy, energetic charm in this commercial.”
– Sega.
Here’s the full version of the commercial video and its behind-the-scenes footage. Meanwhile, Sonic Frontiers was released on November 8 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
