Lost Oasis Monster War, a new idle strategy game combining monster taming and tower defense mechanics, launched on Android by Singapore-based developer Peraspera Games, entering a mobile gaming market where strategy titles generate the highest revenue per download despite representing just 4 percent of total game installations.

The Lost Oasis Monster War launch arrives as strategy idle games command $17.5 billion in annual revenue, making them the most profitable mobile gaming genre. While strategy downloads increased 14.5 percent in 2024, these titles generate 21.4 percent of total mobile game revenue, a 5:1 revenue-to-download ratio that far exceeds casual gaming categories.

Moreover, the broader idle strategy game market reached $2.4 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at 9.8 percent annually through 2033, reaching $5.6 billion. Similarly, mobile tower defense games generated $4.75 billion in 2025 and are forecast to reach $9.74 billion by 2033.

This convergence creates a lucrative entry point for Peraspera, which previously launched Eclipsoul, a dark fantasy idle RPG, in April 2025. The company targets Asia Pacific markets, which dominate the idle gaming market with 42 percent of global revenue, approximately $1 billion annually.

Hybrid Mechanics Address Genre Saturation

Lost Oasis Monster War blends three established mechanics: monster taming through gacha summoning, tower defense battles with strategic placement, and town reconstruction simulation. Players convert defeated bosses into allies, fuse duplicate monsters to unlock evolutions, and deploy units across tactical grids while managing resources to rebuild a desert settlement.

This hybrid approach directly addresses mobile gaming’s most saturated categories. Strategy games now rank among the nine most competitive genres, forcing developers to differentiate through mechanic fusion.

By combining idle progression with active tower defense and monster collection, Peraspera positions Lost Oasis Monster War between casual accessibility and mid-core depth—a balance that appeals to both “Bargain Buyers” (players seeking quality free-to-play experiences) and “Time Fillers” (users gaming during spare moments).

Monetization Model Targets Proven Revenue Streams

The game employs freemium monetization with in-app purchases, aligning with the dominant mobile gaming business model. In-app purchases account for 95 percent of user spending in mobile games, while 82 percent of players prefer free games with ads over paid titles.

Additionally, the gacha summoning system for monster collection taps into proven mechanics from top-grossing titles like Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile, which generated $1.8 billion and $1.18 billion, respectively, in 2024.

Peraspera also incorporates guild systems and competitive PvP modes, features that extend player engagement beyond single-player progression. Guild mechanics proved critical for retention in strategy games, where the top 25 percent maintain 5.4 percent of users after seven days compared to 2.7 percent for median titles.

Platform Strategy Reveals Regional Focus

Notably, Lost Oasis Monster War launches exclusively on Android with no announced iOS timeline. This decision reflects strategic regional targeting. Android commands 72.3 percent of mobile gaming creative assets and dominates in the Asia Pacific markets, where Peraspera likely concentrates on user acquisition.

Countries like Indonesia, India, and Thailand, all Android-heavy markets, showed consumer spending growth of 17 percent, 17 percent, and 16 percent, respectively, in 2024.

However, the Android-only approach limits access to iOS users who demonstrate higher engagement rates. While iOS advertisers accounted for only 26 percent of the market in 2024, 70 percent of Android developers launched new creatives monthly, nearly 20 percent higher than iOS developers. Furthermore, the United States, which generated $52 billion in mobile gaming revenue during 2024, has substantial iOS penetration among high-spending demographics.

Developer Track Record Suggests Cautious Scaling

Peraspera Games operates as a smaller independent studio, having previously released Eclipsoul and Neverfall: Dungeon Trials. Both titles remain Android-exclusive, indicating the company’s go-to-market strategy prioritizes testing and iteration over simultaneous cross-platform launches.

This measured approach aligns with industry dynamics where the number of mobile game advertisers surged 60.4 percent to 259,700 in 2024, intensifying competition for user attention.

The studio’s dark fantasy RPG Eclipsoul offered 1,888 free draws at launch and featured over 30 heroes across three factions. If Peraspera applies a similar level of generosity to Lost Oasis Monster War’s gacha system, it could drive initial user acquisition through favorable reward structures. This tactic influences 52 percent of Gen Z and Gen Alpha players to try new titles.

Revenue Potential Hinges on Retention Mechanics

Lost Oasis Monster War’s success ultimately depends on retention rates and session length. Mid-core strategy games in the top 25 percent achieve 26 percent day-one retention and retain 5.4 percent of users after 1 week. Players in this category average 34 minutes of daily playtime across four sessions, each lasting roughly eight minutes.

The game’s idle mechanics could extend these figures. Idle progression allows players to accumulate resources while offline, reducing pressure to remain constantly engaged while maintaining daily login habits. However, tower defense battles require active participation, creating tension between passive accumulation and active gameplay that could either boost engagement or fragment the user experience.

Market Context Supports Calculated Optimism

While Lost Oasis Monster War enters a crowded market, several factors support measured growth potential. Mobile gaming revenue reached $92 billion in 2024 with 3 percent year-over-year growth, demonstrating market stability after previous corrections.

Strategy games specifically saw download increases even as overall mobile game downloads declined 6 percent. Additionally, emerging markets continue to expand, with Saudi Arabia and Indonesia showing download growth despite global trends.

Nevertheless, competition remains fierce. The tower defense category already includes established titles like Kingdom Guard: Tower Defense and Watcher of Realms, which generated weekly revenue of $75,000 to $192,000 during Q2 2025.

For Peraspera’s Lost Oasis Monster War to capture market share, it must differentiate through superior monster taming mechanics, compelling tower defense strategy, and consistent content updates that justify player investment.

The question isn’t whether there’s room in mobile gaming for another idle strategy game; the $17.5 billion in genre revenue confirms demand. Instead, Peraspera must prove it can execute retention and monetization effectively enough to stand out among 700,000 mobile titles competing for attention.
