Infold Games has officially launched Infinity Nikki Version 2.4, titled The Forest Need Not Listen, a landmark update that redefines this dress-up game as a full-blown open-world adventure, plunging players into a haunting dark fairy tale driven by a chilling time-loop narrative unlike anything the franchise has attempted before.

On March 26, 2026, players across PC, Android, iOS, and PlayStation 4/5 received an exciting update for free. In this new chapter, Nikki and her cat companion, Momo, bravely venture into the cursed Elderwood Forest, where the remnants of the world’s recent Veilfall event linger as a haunting Black Miasma. As they navigate a tragic funeral unfolding in an intriguing time loop, Nikki and Momo gradually uncover the deeper, darker secrets hidden beneath the trees.

“The Forest Need Not Listen” doesn’t hold back. The narrative introduces a twisted Red Riding Hood figure who is armed and dangerous, along with a menacing “Big Dark Wolf,” anchoring the chapter in dark fairy tale mythology.

With each loop, the story strips away another layer, tightening the time-loop’s suffocating grip until the forest’s curse finally reveals itself. This open-world adventure now boasts a depth of story that rivals dedicated RPGs, far surpassing expectations for the dress-up genre.

Momo Goes to War

Infinity Nikki Version 2.4 introduces an exciting new feature: players can now bring Momo directly into combat. By equipping various cloaks, Momo transforms from a close-range brawler into a long-range support ally.

Meanwhile, Nikki faces off against a challenging new boss, named the Scavenger. This fight takes place in an arena that reshapes itself with each phase, increasing the pressure on players as they adapt to the changing environment.

The standout feature of this update is the headlining outfit, She Is Wildfire. Inspired by a dark fairy tale twist on Little Red Riding Hood, this outfit unlocks the ability called (Hunting Elegy: Battle Companion), allowing Nikki to summon the Moon-Hunting Wolf as a fierce companion in battle.

Even outside of combat, the wolf serves as a mount for exploring the open world, keeping the game’s dress-up charm alive while boosting the action.

Former Zelda director Kentaro Tominaga, who designed Breath of the Wild before becoming the executive producer for Infinity Nikki Version 2.4, believes that outfits can do more than just look good.

He said, “Collecting and dressing up in different suits grants the player a diverse range of skills.” With She Is Wildfire, Tominaga has provided the clearest evidence yet of this philosophy in action.

Building a World, Outfit by Outfit

This open-world adventure takes a thrilling leap forward with a brand-new construction and management system set in Itzaland. Players can now dive into the Itzaland Blueprint: Construction ability, allowing them to build beauty salons, baths, and drink shops from the ground up.

You’ll also discover a fresh faction system that lets you recruit NPCs, help them level up their skills, and assign them to manage your shops. This cleverly integrates a light management sim into The Forest Need Not Listen’s rich gameplay.

With these layered systems, this dress-up game reveals surprising depth that might catch skeptics off guard. The update’s dark fairy-tale aesthetic transforms the entire experience, making it feel more like a full-scale genre expansion than just a content patch.

Why the Market Should Pay Attention

The numbers tell a compelling story. Infinity Nikki exploded, with over 20 million downloads worldwide just weeks after its launch in December 2024 and racked up more than $7.5 million in consumer spending in its first month, as reported by Appfigures Intelligence.

Its strong presence in markets such as China, the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia showcases the game’s universal appeal.

With the release of Infinity Nikki Version 2.4, the game expands its reach even further. It blends a gripping gothic time-loop narrative, intense boss battles, and management simulation into one immersive open-world adventure.

This version aims to captivate players who may have never played a dress-up game before. Today’s global market rewards titles that cross genre boundaries, and The Forest Need Not Listen achieves just that.

The Forest Need Not Listen weaves a dark fairy tale around themes of looping grief, monster battles, and town management, seamlessly integrating these elements with unique outfits. This adventure no longer feels the need to prove its worth to skeptics.

Infinity Nikki Version 2.4 is a bold statement. Wrapped in red cloaks and armed with wolf-fang weapons, it showcases the potential of a time-loop narrative when a dress-up game dares to break free from convention.
