Netmarble has officially launched the first large-scale update for its PC and mobile MMORPG RF Online NEXT, the company announced on April 9, introducing two major PvP game modes — ‘Mining War’ and ‘Paradise Battle’ and fierce competition for the vital Holy Stone — along with a series of in-game events, promising exciting new content and competitive action for players worldwide.
At the heart of this update is the introduction of the ‘Mining War,’ a large-scale, server-wide guild battle that emphasizes strategy, teamwork, and domination. The central premise of this mode revolves around the struggle for the ‘Holy Stone,’ a vital growth resource in RF Online NEXT.
In the ‘Mining War,’ three in-game nations — Bellato, Accretia, and Cora — compete for mining supremacy. The process begins with a ‘Preliminary Battle,’ where each faction selects a representative guild to participate in the next phase. These guilds then advanced to the ‘National Battle,’ a full-fledged war where the goal was to destroy the mining machines of opposing nations.
The victorious guild earns Exchange Tax rights and Exclusive Mine Mining Rights within the server. It receives a special title: ‘First Conqueror,’ commemorating their triumph in the inaugural ‘Mining War.’ This creates a new layer of competitiveness among top-tier players and guilds, turning resource control into a high-stakes battlefield.
World Content: Introducing ‘Paradise Battle’
Alongside ‘Mining War,’ Netmarble is unveiling another ambitious mode: ‘Paradise Battle,’ a seasonal world content that brings together four guilds, with up to 200 players, in a fierce contest for control of a space station’s core area called ‘Paradise.’
Players must seize the space station’s central capture zone (Paradise) and auxiliary territories. The match is divided into two rounds (first and second half), and guilds earn points based on the number and duration of areas captured. At the conclusion, the accumulated points determine the final rankings and participating guilds receive Season Points based on performance.
Its dual-reward system sets ‘Paradise Battle’ apart — providing incentives for guild-wide rankings and individual contributions. This ensures that both collaborative play and personal performance are recognized and rewarded. More details, including schedules and participation methods, are available on the official RF Online NEXT forum.
Special In-Game Events Until May 14
To celebrate the new update, Netmarble has launched time-limited in-game events that run through May 14, providing a range of bonuses and exclusive items. These include:
‘Mining War! 14-Day Attendance’ Event – Players who log in daily for 14 days will receive valuable items and boosts that support their in-game progression and PvP performance.
‘Holy Stone Fragment Production’ Event – A crafting-focused event that allows players to gather and produce Holy Stone fragments, enhancing their strategic edge in Mining War and other modes.
These events encourage daily participation and offer useful tools for new and veteran players to gain an advantage in the updated game environment.
Developed by Netmarble, RF Online NEXT is the spiritual successor to the iconic RF Online MMORPG, initially launched in 2004. The game builds on the legacy of its predecessor while introducing state-of-the-art enhancements for modern audiences.
Set in a distant sci-fi universe, the game pits three factions — Bellato (technomancers), Cora (spiritualists), and Accretia (cyborgs) — against each other in a never-ending war for resources and dominance. Each faction has its distinct combat style and lore, creating a dynamic and varied gameplay environment.
Key Gameplay Innovations
RF Online NEXT features several modern gameplay innovations:
- Dynamic Biosuit Combat: Players can choose from six biosuits tailored to different combat roles. Suits can be swapped in real time to adapt strategies on the battlefield.
- Giant Robot Summons: The game introduces massive mecha units that players can summon and control, amplifying the scale and impact of battles.
- Free-Flight Mechanic: A new mobility system allows characters to navigate the skies, perform aerial maneuvers, and gain tactical positioning across expansive battlefields.
In keeping with Netmarble’s commitment to innovation, RF Online NEXT incorporates blockchain-based features via the MARBLEX platform, offering NFT integration and token-based economies. This lets players own, trade, and utilize digital assets in real time. Additionally, the game supports cross-platform play between PC and mobile, making it accessible to a broader player base and enabling continuous gameplay across devices.
Strong Launch Performance
Since its official launch on March 20, 2025, RF Online NEXT has experienced strong momentum. It topped sales charts on both major Korean app stores within six days, reflecting the game’s appeal among MMORPG fans in Korea and growing interest internationally.
Its rapid rise can be attributed to its blend of nostalgia and innovation, appealing to long-time RF Online fans and newcomers drawn to high-quality, futuristic MMORPG experiences.
With the introduction of large-scale content like ‘Mining War’ and ‘Paradise Battle,’ Netmarble has signaled its intention to make RF Online NEXT a central title in the competitive MMORPG genre. Combined with immersive combat mechanics, blockchain features, and engaging community events, the game offers a compelling experience that caters to casual players, hardcore guild leaders, and collectors alike.
As the game evolves with more updates and seasonal content, RF Online NEXT is poised to continue its strong growth and redefine large-scale online warfare in mobile and PC gaming.
