‘Dungeon&Fighter Mobile,’ the popular action role-playing game (RPG) from Nexon that inherited the intellectual property (IP) of ‘Dungeon & Fighter'(PC), is showing signs of a long run. According to Mobile Index, a mobile extensive data analysis platform, Nexon’s ‘Dungeon & Fighter Mobile,’ released on March 24th, recorded 861,755 new installations, ranking first in the new installations in March.

Dungeon&Fighter  Mobile is a two-dimensional (2D) action game that embodies the taste of manual operation in past arcades under the development slogan of ‘action pleasure.’ It depicts a journey on the continent of Arad, where beautiful legends and tragic war coexist. Currently, Dungeon&Fighter  Mobile ranks 3rd in Google Play Store sales and 1st in Apple App Store sales.

Dungeon&Fighter Mobile ranked first in Apple’s App Store sales five hours after its launch on March 24th. Then, on April 1st, it ranked first in the popularity and sales rankings on Google Play and the App Store. It recorded 1.2 million pre-downloads and 1.1 million pre-character creations. The number of users who accessed the game on the day of its release reached 1 million.

Reasons for success of Dungeon&Fighter Mobile

There are three major factors contributing to the success of Dungeon&Fighter Mobile. First of all, it is mainly evaluated that the initial appearance of the PC Dungeon&Fighter, which was released in 2005, was reproduced as it is. Some people even say that it is ‘Dungeon&Fighter Classic.’ Although it had to be done only by manual operation, it was somewhat successful in stimulating the original fans’ hearts.

As you progress through the game, hurdles often block character leveling up. It is also a phenomenon that occurs due to the fatigue system. Many users go around recommended dungeons for each level or enjoy a duel at a leisurely pace for action fun whenever fatigue is exhausted.

Unlike other mobile games, a good charging model (BM) is also considered. Dungeon&Fighter Mobile can be enjoyed without charge if you don’t put a lot of effort into raising your character’s stats. The shops are concentrated on ‘reap (rare avatars)’ called ‘reap'(rare avatars) and ‘creatures’ that can be viewed as pets and cosmetic items with stats. Since these are BMs that can be seen in the original work, the user’s rejection is relatively low.

Dungeon&Fighter  Mobile, which users enjoy on PC, does not affect rankings in Google and Apple. The PC version of Dungeon&Fighter Mobile has introduced its own payment system. Users who play with a Google account can use a payment method other than in-app payment when connecting with a PC. Users can pay by deferred payment of mobile phone bills, Payco, Toss, Kakao Pay, and cultural gift certificates. Due to this, user convenience is further increased, and Dungeon&Fighter Mobile’s sales are expected to generate synergy with sales in the two major mobile markets.

Dungeon&Fighter Mobile is also showing a win-win situation with the original. According to NMedia Platform, which operates the PC room game ranking site ‘The Log,’ in the 5th week of March 2022, the mobile version of Dungeon & Fighter increased the usage time by 7.9% compared to the previous week, and the ranking rose. The share is 2.45%. This is why it is evaluated that Dungeon&Fighter Mobile has laid a foothold for long-term box office success.

On the other hand, Nexon is promoting the ‘mobilization of masterpiece IP (Mabinogi Mobile, Tales Weaver: Second Run)’ and ‘Next generation games (Kart Rider: Drift, Ark Raiders, Project Magnum, Project HP, Project D, DNF) in line with the global paradigm shift. Duel)’ and ‘Large multiplayer online role-playing game (HIT2, Project ER) that will shake the market’ is spurring the development of intellectual property (IP).
