There are many fields of opportunity waiting for one who wishes to be a part of the gaming revolution. But to apply for a job in the gaming industry, one must know what the openings are. Many jobs are directly or indirectly related to esports, which is revolutionizing the modern decade.

What Is Esports And Why It Is So Popular?

Esports is a collective of online games that are played as a professional sport between teams and players. Like any other professional sports event, esports is also a game that involves the promise of recognition. But in addition to fame and success, it promises money and lots of it. A professional gamer is found to earn big and is very popular among the mass. Most pro players are practically earning their livelihood by playing games. This is the scope of esports, which allows a sporting event to go online and hold the craze for video games to play in competitive tournaments.

Esports is so popular because of the immense supporters that online games have fashioned over the years. Games like DOTA 2, League of Legends, Valorant are having a huge fan following, and millions of people are paying to watch the live tournaments. Top-class players are sought after by big gaming teams that wish to solidify their business and acquire top berth. A whole new league is created for each game, and it is spinning money like anything.

What Are The Jobs That Are Associated With The Esports Industry and Gaming?

The esports industry or gaming industry in general houses many different jobs. From developers to gamers and from testers and PR managers, there are many scopes for people to cash in bucks from everyday work in the gaming industry.

Gamers

Obviously, the first and foremost scope of a profession in the gaming industry would be that of a gamer. A gamer is someone who actively participates in playing the concerned game and plays to win. A professional gamer is someone with years of experience and skills that distinguishes them above anyone else. They are well nurtured and vetted through multiple gaming brands. Mostly when a gamer is doing well in a game, the professional brands or gaming teams approach them. The idea is to recruit the player as a team member for the championship tournaments and win them. Top gaming companies actually form many top gaming teams to participate in such tournaments and earn from. A gamer can earn from the match fees and the tournament’s winnings. However, there are other sources from which a gamer may be able to earn.

Team Manager

If the gaming teams participating in the esports tournaments require gamers to win the competition, they certainly require a manager. The team manager manages every basic activity of the team, from looking over publicity, viewership, and most importantly, the business aspect of the team. In addition, the team manager will also be responsible for the accommodation and wellbeing of the team member or the gamers.

PR Manager in Gaming

A PR Manager is someone who looks after the public relations-related jobs for a company. Here a PR manager is someone who will be looking after a gaming team or a gaming company. In the case of a gaming team, all the brand endorsement, publicity of the team, managing social media presence, and public relations are the task of a PR manager. A gaming company, on the contrary, hires a PR to deal with business deals and maintaining customer relationships. There are many opportunities and openings in the PR department due to the rise of publicity stunts and increased customer engagement due to a rise in sales.

Sales Representatives/Business Managers in Gaming

Sales and business are the prevalent and primary aspects of every industry. So naturally, even the gaming industry requires dedicated business managers and sales representatives to run the show for them. From taking out time to pitch the content to customers, strategizing the next market move, and popularizing a sale, a business manager needs to plan it all. In addition, a business manager needs to look after the profits and revenue sources of the company and accounts for all the purchases and gains from business deals. Finally, representatives are the direct point of contact for the customers or retailers involved in business with the gaming company. As a result of the booming performances of the gaming industry, businesses are recruiting more business associates and managers.

Marketing Managers And Marketing Associates

Marketing is an important aspect of any industry. The gaming industry also depends heavily on the resources of marketing. Without proper media management and marketing, people often won’t even know about new games and releases. Thus to make a game popular, the marketing team has to work very hard. Every game that is popular today was once a newbie in the market. But the marketing managers and the associates worked hard to make them popular among the crowd. Thus there will be requirements of the marketing team and associates on every gaming front. Even today, various industries are recruiting marketing teams to boost their sales and revenue.

Game Testers

This is a less-known category among various jobs in the field. But it is an important one nevertheless. Game testers are needed to test all the developments in a game and are required to give it a thumbs up before the final launch. Of course, a game will continue to have updates and modifications, and many times it will release beta versions for testing purposes. Many gaming companies hire professional game testers to gain significant details of the errors and improvements needed in the game and change it accordingly. These testers need to have a sound knowledge of game mechanics and can be ex-pro gamers and knowledge of the competitive gaming market.

There are many more fields of jobs associated with the esports or gaming industry. Many new fields are getting filled at this very moment. People are inventing new scopes of involvement in the gaming industry, which will surely grow even big in upcoming years. Thus there will never be a shortage of jobs in the gaming market.
