Cedric “RpK” Guipouy, the French CS legend, quits after ruling the game for around 14 years. It is impossible not to be familiar with the legends of Cedric Guipouy being a Counter-Strike fan. He started playing in 2006 professionally. It did not take him long to become one of the best players ever to play Counter-Strike. For any Counter-Strike fan, this may feel like an end to an era. He announced his retirement at just 32.

RpK announced on Twitter, “Today marks the end of a long and beautiful career. It started long ago, had ups and downs, but I always loved it.” He also added, “I’m grateful for your support over the years, I won’t forget it.” This announcement left fans in shock, without a hint of doubt.

From the start of his career, he has played two versions of Valve’s shooter. This helped him earn the nickname of Le Tank. Thus, he also started a merch line to keep his legacy alive.

His Plans In the Future

Everything about his retirement is not bad news. RpK has shared his plans about the future along with his retirement from Counter-Strike. One of the many plans of his plans includes launching his Le Tank merch line. It is his brand and something he is utterly proud of. The merch line is a celebration of his career.

According to his Twitter handle posts, he seems to be working on multiple projects about his career and life. Prodigy Agency GG aiding him on this new venture.

There are also words on RpK retiring to start his car mechanic shop. But, that will not stop him from working on his Counter-Strike Career.

He has also given a hint on keeping the fans posted about his plans in the future.

Cedric Guipouy’s Career Through Years

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive wasn’t the version RpK started his career with. It was Counter-Strike: Source that he made his debut with CS. He later entered the world of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2012.

He had announced his retirement from the game in 2013 to become a mechanic. But, as we all know, he shortly returned to playing this game. He did so for Titan. They were in search of players following the ban of VAC of Hovik “KOLY” Tovmassian.

He continued playing professionally till Vitality withdrew him to open space for the advent of Jayson “Kyojin” Nguyen.

His outstanding career in both the version of Counter-Strike has earned him the fame of being the most popular French player. He is also among the highly regarded players. He has played on teams like Envy, VeryGames, Titan, Vitality, and G2.

He has won multiple tournaments, including six tournaments such as ECS sessions, and participated in eight CS: GO Majors. RpK even won titles like EPICENTER 2019 and even BLASR Premier Fall 2020. He also made Vitality reach the top ranks.

Most of his teammates always refer to him as a glue-type player. This is because he was always ready to compromise with his game to make sure the team wins.

Concluding Thoughts

Cedric terminated his relationship with Team Vitality on the 26th of August 2021. This was solely communicated through his social media profiles. He stated, ” In 2018, we started a beautiful journey with Vitality. We started from scratch with one goal: to reach the top 1! It wasn’t just a team, it was a family that grew together throughout this crazy adventure, raising trophies along the way. Thank you all who cheered during this journey,” during his farewell from the team, according to Draft5.

I hope we get to see more of the plans he has talked about. Fans are looking forward to witnessing the big plans of Le Tank.
