Midnight Suns was announced in the Opening Night at Gamescom held on the 25th of August 2021. The very first announcement of the event was this. It is a marvel title, but it is hardly anything like Marvel. It being quite different from mainstream Marvel comics or series or games makes it even more exciting. However, this game may not be the game you expect it to be, but they have surely handpicked some of the amazing developers. The tactical gaming gurus – Firaxis (Civilisation, XCOM) collaborating with marvel made the dream of some marvel fans come true.

It will be a Tactical role-playing game with a single-player mode. The director of the game is Jake Soloman, and 2K Games will publish it. It will be available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Play Station 4, Play Station 5, and Nintendo Switch users. The game is going to get released in March of 2022. Players can avail this game from Epic Game Store and Steam. Nevertheless, to say it is about to feature some characters from the Avengers, Runaways. Midnight Sons and X-Men. And it is going to be dark!

In this article, you will get to know more about this Marvel title. On top of that, we will tell you how it will reveal Marvel’s dark side! So let’s not wait another moment and jump into the details.

More About the Game

You will be allowed to make a superhero character who goes by the name “The Hunter.” It will be having over 40 powers of different kinds. Players can choose among these 40 superhero abilities. You can even customize the appearance of “The Hunter” to be female or male. There will be other characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine. Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Magik, Blade, and Nico Minoru.

It will be a turn-based combat game but in the middle of combat missions. You will have to manage the base of operations known as “The Abbey.” You can also walk around this base to interact with other heroes and wander around the ground. The interaction will be a role-playing element that impacts the ability of your character and your gameplay. There will be three options for heroes that include “The Hunter” for you to take to battles. The game rolls on from there!

If you have been a Marvel Comics fan, you would know what this game is based on. For those who don’t, it is base on the Rise of the Midnight Sons, a comic book series from the 1990s. This comic encountered collaboration of Avengers with several other Marvel Comic characters such as Ghost Riders. Here, The Hunter, The Avengers, and other superheroes will come together to stop Hydra. The Hunter is, in fact, the child of Lilith and yet the only one who can kill her. The Hunter will be among the 13 heroes in the game.

Revealing the Darker Side of Marvel

Firaxis Game curated this game to surprise the Marvel fans. All heroes such as Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Magik, Blade, Nico Minoru, and The Hunter will be on a team to prevent the demonic forces. They will try their best to stop the underworld demonic forces, and Lilith will attempt to complete the Darkhold. The Hunter is raised from the sarcophagus, as you see at the beginning of the trailer. They will be on the lead of the gang of demon hunters.

This game will be a milestone under the Marvel title and how it actually has been all through the years. The previous and upcoming Marvel games such as Insomniac’s Spider-Man, Guardians of Galaxy, Marvel’s Avenger let you be the hero. But, it is different this time. Midnight Suns will make you create a Hero and even fully customize it. This is a first in the Marvel series. From building The Hunter through costumes and combats to building the personality with missions, do it all in the Abbey. The Abbey is where your squad can take shelter when it is all going downhill. “The key to the Abbey is that this is where for your relationships with the other heroes and relationships are just as important as combat in our game,” said Mr. Solomon, according to Games Radar.

The Abbey is more like a headquarter for the Midnight Suns (the team that stops the demonic force). You will be able to go on tours to explore the grounds as well as the buildings. “The Abbey is very different than combat. There are also grounds outside the Abbey for you to explore. It’s an extraordinary experience,” said Mr. Solomon, according to 9news.  Alongside developing relationships and lives with superheroes in-exclusive of the combats. This part may or may not involve playing video games, cards, or practicing your move with the heroes. You may even give gifts to other characters.

Only 9 faces have been revealed other than The Hunter from 13 Marvel heroes. With each battle, you win your skills will level up along with other heroes fighting with you. The 40 superpower abilities that The Hunter will have spreads across the dark and light spectrums.

Concluding Thoughts

This game is going to be a light bearer for strategy games as well as Marvel stories. Nevertheless, to say it is going to be one of a kind. The game even has card-based gameplay. This is where you will activate your cards to advance towards the battle. Every card has different abilities. As you progress, you will be collecting more cards. “Obviously, it’s a big twist right, we have cards,” Mr. Rosemann stated according to 9news. These cards will also have a hand in developing your character and making it even more powerful.

This game is surely going to keep players glued to their seats longer than they anticipate. Midnight Suns is something totally different than other Marvel series. It is a completely new venture, and Marvel fans are eagerly waiting for it. I hope this game is a hit among the players and fans.
