Nintendo has unveiled a brand-new Japanese trailer for Fire Emblem Engage, a game that will launch on the Switch on January 20, 2023. In the latest trailer, the game created by Intelligent Systems teaches series newcomers the fundamentals of combat and character growth.
Nintendo has provided fans with many reasons to anticipate the game. Previous previews heavily emphasized the “Emblem” mechanic of the game while introducing the new cast of characters and showcasing recognizable former heroes like Lucina and Marth.

While Fire Emblem has been a mainstay of Nintendo games for over three decades, the series has recently experienced a massive surge in popularity abroad.
The most recent installment, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, soon overtook its predecessor as the series’ best-selling game. Many gaming portals selected Fire Emblem: Three Houses among the Best Games of 2019. 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening is credited with saving the franchise from cancellation.
Nintendo’s overview of the game says, “In a war against the Fell Dragon, four kingdoms worked together with heroes from other worlds to seal away this great evil. One-thousand years later, this seal has weakened, and the Fell Dragon is about to reawaken.”
“As a Divine Dragon, use rich strategies and robust customization to meet your destiny—to collect 12 Emblem Rings and bring peace back to the Continent of Elyos,” it adds.
Engage in a whole new combat mode
The most recent trailer for Fire Emblem Engage adopts a tutorial perspective, presenting players with the different components of a Fire Emblem game. Its title, loosely translated as “First Fire Emblem,” suggests this. T
The movie showcases many of the key characteristics of the Fire Emblem series while also introducing novices to some of the game’s cast of characters, unit placement, and turn-based gameplay.
Leveling, item personalization, and class switching are all prominently displayed in the film, primarily intended to instruct new players about the fundamental progression of a Fire Emblem game. The franchise’s classic “weapon triangle” battle system is introduced to the players.
While Nintendo’s most recent look at Fire Emblem Engage aimed at franchise novices, the game has heavily focused on winning over devoted fans.
Favorite characters from previous Fire Emblem games, like Celica and Marth, have come back in the game’s “Emblem” system to assist players in battle.
Several Three Houses quality-of-life features, including a rewind mechanism akin to the previous Fire Emblem, are expected to return in the newest game.
Additionally, Nintendo has declared that ‘Engage’ will be followed by paid DLC that will feature the return of even more adored characters.
