Gravity Forge, the newest release from developer Relay, is set to revolutionize the gaming landscape by blending spatial combat and gravity manipulation with the visual allure of dieselpunk, offering a co-op shooter experience powered by Unreal Engine 5 and enhanced by procedural generation for endless replayability. The third-person co-op shooter provides players a new dimension of gameplay.

At the core of Gravity Forge is the innovative concept of spatial combat, which adds an extra layer of depth to the traditional shooter experience. Players assume the role of Elsa, a parkour assassin who can manipulate gravity and the environment around her. This gravity-based mechanic allows for unprecedented freedom of movement, transforming walls into floors and ceilings into platforms.

Relay’s team explains that this unique approach sets the game apart. Players can expect fluid parkour-style movements reminiscent of classics like Prince of Persia but with a co-op shooter’s intense firepower and precision.

This blend of styles makes every level in Gravity Forge a dynamic battlefield, allowing players to approach combat from multiple perspectives and vantage points. Relay’s spokesperson highlighted the game’s potential: “Imagine the fast-paced, high-octane action of Doom Eternal, but with the finesse of Warframe’s parkour system.”

In Gravity Forge, Dieselpunk Meets Art Deco

One of the game’s standout features is its art direction, a blend of dieselpunk, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco aesthetics. The setting, Gaston City, is a grim, industrial metropolis with elegant, organic curves and intricate designs. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Gravity Forge is designed to push visual boundaries. Every element reflects meticulous attention to detail, from towering skyscrapers to intricate enemy designs.

Players will face off against various biomechanical enemies, each controlled by Relay’s proprietary AI. This ensures a diverse and unpredictable combat experience where no two encounters are alike. Despite the game’s impressive visuals and mechanics, Relay promises good optimization across mid-tier PCs, making Gravity Forge accessible to a broad audience.

Co-Op Chaos and Endless Replayability

While the single-player mode offers an immersive experience, Gravity Forge excels in its co-op mode. Players can team up with friends to tackle the game’s most challenging missions, combining abilities for spectacular team-based combat. However, friendly fire adds a layer of complexity, requiring players to coordinate closely and remain aware of their surroundings at all times.

To enhance replayability, Gravity Forge incorporates elements of procedural generation, roguelike mechanics, and Metroidvania design. As players progress, they unlock new abilities to revisit earlier levels and discover previously hidden paths, enemies, and treasures. This ensures that every playthrough is unique and packed with new content, keeping players engaged long after the initial run.

The Team Behind Gravity Forge

Relay is a growing indie development studio with a passionate team of developers from diverse backgrounds. What started as a dream project has quickly evolved into an ambitious venture with a dedicated team of 20 full-time professionals. As the development process continues, plans are in place to expand to 40 team members. The team works remotely across Europe and is establishing its legal entity in Cyprus.

With their combined experience in indie and AA game development, Relay is poised to bring Gravity Forge to the forefront of the gaming industry. The studio’s passion for pushing boundaries is evident in every aspect of the game, from its bold gameplay mechanics to its striking visual design.

As Gravity Forge enters the next development phase, gamers’ anticipation grows. The game’s unique blend of spatial combat, gravity manipulation, and co-op shooter mechanics has already piqued the interest of fans of titles like Warframe, Doom Eternal, and World War Z. With more updates expected in the coming months, all eyes are on Relay as they work to bring this ambitious project to life.

Gravity Forge is not just another co-op shooter—it’s a bold step forward in game design, offering players a unique experience that blends artistry, strategy, and high-octane action.
